The Haunted Lake Beneath the Cathedral

For centuries, a young woman named Adélaïde is said to haunt the lake beneath the Strasbourg Cathedral. Wishing for a child, she went there with her husband, a soldier, and they lost a wager with the devil himself. Her soul has been trapped there ever since, and she is said to drag young couples who venture to the lake in hopes of having children down to the bottom. Legend has it that if the magic helmet of her late husband were found, Adélaïde would be released and would stop haunting the lake.
