One morning, the editor-in-chief, François Le Quellec, receives a letter from a distraught mother who has lost her son. She indicates that Inspector Jacques Dubon from the Parisian research section has taken up the case.

According to city hall sources, it belongs to an old lady, Madame Bonniface Lessor... What a strange name!
