On June 10, 1194, the Chartres Cathedral was partially destroyed by a massive fire. The canons took refuge in the Chapel of Saint Lubin, protecting the sacred relic of Chartres, and were buried under the rubble. A few days later, the debris was cleared, and the canons were rescued. The relic was then secured by Bishop Renaud de Bar, who decided to entrust it to the Commander of the Order of the Templars, Gilbert Hérail. They would be its guardians until the reconstruction work was completed. Unfortunately, on December 21, 1200, Gilbert Hérail died at the start of his fourth crusade. To ensure the safety of the precious relic, he had not revealed to anyone the secret location where he had hidden it. The search was then entrusted to the Templars and their new commander, Thomas Béraud. He created a special section whose sole mission was to find the relic of Chartres. It is now October 24, 1260. The cathedral is to be solemnly consecrated today. The Pope himself has come. The procession will begin at 6 PM, amidst the cheers of the crowd who expect to finally admire the relic that makes this cathedral so sacred. You are part of the special section founded 60 years ago, heirs to the many Templars who have succeeded in this adventure. The procession begins in just over an hour, and it is your duty to save the Order of the Templars.
